BDW Crisis Training Solutions teaches staff teams first aid, bleeding control, de-escalation and self-protection. Its trainers teach from a manual shared by several training providers, Workplace First Aid & CPR — A Team Approach, and in 2023 the studio set BDW’s edition: a cover, a back page that lays out all nine courses, two certificate cards and a business card.

01Emblem & colour
The shield
sets the colours.
The shield is BDW’s own: white lettering on black, a blue open book under the motto Praeparatio scientia, a red maple leaf. The layout takes two colours from it and no more. The blue of the book runs the rules, bands and course headings; the black of the ground closes every page as a footer. White and a pale grey carry the reading, and the red stays in the emblem.

02The cover
Read the name first,
then the course.
The emblem breaks the blue rule at the top, so the cover opens on BDW before it opens on the manual. The 2023 cover printed the company name in white across the photograph; here it sits on white above it, where it can be read, and the photograph keeps only the hands.
The layout is the one the studio drew for the Code 8 edition of the manual for EmergMart; each partner’s edition swaps in its own emblem and colours. See the EmergMart editions →

The back page answers two questions, in order. Why BDW: five lines, each a reason a manager would give. What BDW teaches: nine courses in a three-by-three grid, each with a line icon, a title, how it is taught and what it covers. Here is the page, and then its grid at reading size.
