M+Skin care · Handmade candles · Mississauga
From the treatment room
to candlelight.

00The project
M+ Skin Care & Beauty is a skin-care studio in Mississauga, Ontario. In 2023 it opened a second line — handmade candles, made with Xeei Candle — and the studio designed for both: the gold script mark and its candle versions, the shop sign and service menu, three candle labels, the opening posters and the menus for the candle workshop.

01The mark
One gold signature,
three ways of signing.
The mark is a calligraphic M with a small plus at its shoulder, in a warm gold. For the salon it curls into a seal, with Skin Care & Beauty set along the curve. For the candles it sits under a ribbon of smoke as M+ Candle — and on everything made with Xeei Candle it stands beside a bolder serif line.

02The salon
A sign as quiet
as the room behind it.
Blush ivory, the gold script, and line drawings of stones, an oil bottle and a candle so faint they read as texture. The service menu keeps the same ground, sets every treatment against its time and price in a banded table, and leaves the decoration to the margins.
03Candle labels
Three candles,
three small squares.
Each kind of candle has its own 4¼-inch square label, printed with bleed. The scented candles (Bougie de parfum) carry gold line drawings of flowers, fruit, a wave and a tree; the moulded candles (Bougie de moule), soft geometric forms; the Luxury Oriental line, cloisonné-blue ornament on black (Joyaux de l’Orient). All three sign off with the same joint lockup.
04The opening
Opening night,
in lacquer and gold.
The candle line opened on 10 October, and the posters went dark: navy fading into black, the script in gold, the shop’s cloisonné incense burner photographed close. A second introduces the cloisonné vessel series, its title set vertically beside the photograph.
05Workshop menus
Two menus,
one for each light.
The candle workshop’s price list comes in Chinese and English, on two grounds: blue enamel flowers on black, or pale gold on white. Both carry the joint lockup at the head and keep the prices in one centred column.
