Lakeside Hideaway rents cabins on the shore of Penetang Harbour, on Ontario’s Georgian Bay. For its opening in 2023 the studio drew the badge — dusk over the hills, a cabin in the pines, a paddler crossing the water — and wrote the short manual that keeps it whole wherever it goes.

01The drawing
Sky, hills, pines,
and the water.
The badge is drawn in flat layers, the way the shore looks at dusk: a peach sky with four birds, two bands of blue hills, a dark line of spruce around the cabin, then the lake running pale to deep with a single paddler on it. Under the scene, the name in tall condensed capitals, and a maple leaf between ESTD and 2023.
02Colour
Dusk above,
deep water below.
The manual has no colour page, so these values are read straight from the artwork: one navy for everything dark, a dusk gradient for the sky, two lake blues for the hills and water, and the red of the leaf, kept to that one small place.

03One colour
When the colour can’t come,
the drawing still holds.
For print jobs with one ink, and for backgrounds that fight the colours, the manual specifies the badge in black or white. Every shape survives the conversion — the birds, the window panes, the wake behind the kayak.
04The manual
Eleven pages
that keep it whole.
The manual keeps the rules short: how the signature and the vertical lockup are used, how the badge sits in a round or a square social avatar, how much space it needs around it, and when to switch to one colour. The last page asks one thing — don’t change its shapes or its colours.
