Joshua Hoo is a veteran investor. His channel, Joshua’s Investment Stories, speaks to Chinese-speaking viewers in North America: about three minutes an episode, watched upright, one investing story at a time. Its line runs to six characters — understand it, and you can hold it. We set how the frames look and built the flow that turns a script into a finished episode.

01The channel
One line,
in two colours.
The line is Joshua’s own: understand it, and you can hold it. We split it at the comma — the understanding in white, the holding in gold — so the turn can be seen. Deep navy carries everything; warm gold is kept for the few words that matter most, on the banner and in every frame.
看得懂,才拿得住。

Kicker · statement · figure: the three voices of a frame
02The frame
One frame,
one point.
Every frame keeps the same order, so the viewer never has to look for the point. Figures are monospaced, like a market screen; in the cuts the background image is darkened and graded to navy and gold, so the words always stand in front. Here the frames are re-set from the cuts with the backgrounds left out.
- 1Disclaimer
“For information only · not investment advice” — on every frame.
- 2Kicker
Opens with ▸ and sets the time and context.
- 3The figure
Monospaced numerals; the unit drops in size and turns gold.
- 4Statement
The point in one line, in heavy type.
- 5Support
A line of source or cost, stepped back to grey.
- 6Caption
Follows the narration, set over the shadows.
- 7Progress
A fine gold rule: how much is left.
03The episodes
Three episodes,
three questions.
The first three episodes were made in a single week, each starting from one concrete question. All three wear the same frame; only the background and its grade change — cool for the first, warmed with gold for the third.

第二层思维
Second-level thinking
First-level thinking says AI is real, earnings will catch up and valuations are fine. Howard Marks works on the second level.
- EP02
涨 40%,该卖吗?
Up 40% — time to sell?
The Nasdaq is up 40% in a year; do you sell? This episode’s answer: I don’t know, and I don’t time the market.

黄金是保险,不是彩票
Gold is insurance, not a lottery ticket
Gold hit a record US$5,589 an ounce, yet between 2011 and 2015 it lost 45%. Where does it belong in a portfolio?
04Production
A script goes in,
an episode comes out.
We built the making of an episode into one fixed flow: presenting, narration, captions and layout never start from scratch, and a new episode needs only a new script.
- 01Script
One question an episode, written as a script of about three minutes.
- 02Cloned voice
Narrated by a cloned model of Joshua’s own voice.
- 03Digital presenter
A lip-synced presenter made from his likeness.
- 04Auto-captions
Timed line by line from the narration.
- 05Remotion render
The layout is code, so every episode wears the same frame.
