Jarrah Contracting Services is a contractor, and its monogram goes up like a frame: J, C and S from one square-cut stroke, all the same height, standing on the same line. Inside the J sits half a maple leaf, its centre line hidden in the letter’s stem.

01Construction
One stroke,
square corners.
Every bar in the mark is the same width; call it one unit. All three letters stand 11.2 units tall. J and S are 6.1 wide, C a little narrower at 5.6. There is not a curve in it — the only angled edges belong to the leaf. Every figure in the drawing is measured from the original vectors.
02The leaf
Half a maple leaf,
held in the J.
The leaf is cut down its centre line and only the left half is kept, set into the bowl of the J. The cut edge disappears into the letter’s stem, so the stem stands in for the missing half. From across the street the mark is three letters; up close, the J is holding a leaf.
03Lockups
Four ways
to set it.
The 2018 board set the monogram four ways, all gold on black: solid, with the full name in one line beneath; line, the letters drawn in a 2-point rule while the leaf stays solid; interlocked, with the C widened and the S tucked inside it; and framed, with JARRAH CONTRACTING and SERVICES set into the two corners the letters leave open.
04Colour and size
Gold on black,
and fine in one colour.
The board uses two colours: a muted gold, #D0B065, on black. Because the monogram is made of flat bars, it holds up in a single colour and at small sizes — at 24 pixels tall the leaf still has its outline.
