Dates
9–10 July 2022
Venue
Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites

In the summer of 2022 EGI held a two-day job fair in Markham for students and new graduates: employers at tables, interviews on the spot, a mystery guest each afternoon. We made what brought people in and walked them through the day — a poster and a long WeChat image, a programme for each day, and a card of practical notes.

01The poster

Legible
from across the hall.

The 2022 poster carried everything — dates, venue, roles, sponsors, two QR codes, a row of stock figures — at nearly one size. Re-set, it says three things in order: this is a job fair; these two days, these hours; here, and for these roles. The ground is the orange-to-yellow of EGI’s own mark.

02The day

Six slots,
one afternoon.

Both days ran the same, but for the mystery guest. The best writing sat in the original’s brackets — “your best chance to meet an employer halfway” — so not a word of it changed. The times line up in one column, so anyone can find where they should be now.

  1. 12:00— 12:30

    Doors open

Ready, set: no unemployment after graduation, starting now!

  2. 12:30— 12:45

    Host’s welcome

Who’s here and what they’re hiring for. Don’t miss it.

  3. 12:45— 14:00

    Open interviews

Your best chance to meet an employer halfway.

  4. 14:00— 14:20

    Mystery guest

Day one: a senior HR person from a bank? Day two: a criminal lawyer?

  5. 14:20— 15:50

    Interviews 2.0 · advice

    ARE YOU READY!!!!

  6. 15:50— 16:00

03Before you come

Bring a résumé.
Dress for the heat.

The notes card turns dark to stand apart: first how to prepare, then how to arrive — who meets you at the door, where to park. On WeChat the poster, both programmes and this card run together as one long image, read in a single scroll.

Re-set from the studio’s 2022 Affinity file for the event: the copy, times, venue and organiser follow the original; layout and typography are new. The original credits Day of Design as design support. The EGI logo is the client’s own. Sponsor logos, QR codes, a stock illustration of job-seekers and the original’s headcount and vacancy figures are left out. The event took place in 2022; this is not a current listing.
