In early 2023 the studio designed a business card for Chris Zhang, then a mortgage specialist at Bank of Montreal. A bank already has a voice — its blue, its roundel, its rules — so the job was not a new identity but a card that is plainly BMO and still plainly his: two layouts for the front, one for the back.

01Three faces
Two fronts,
one reverse.
Layout one is all white: the lockup across the top, name and title beneath, contact lines in one left-hand column with a WeChat code beside them, and the portrait standing in from the right, cut off by the card’s bottom edge. Layout two moves the lockup onto a band of BMO blue and lets the portrait rise into it. The reverse carries the lockup alone.

Not much to say,
said in order.
A card gets a few seconds. The name comes first, about twice the size of the contact lines; then the title; then the ways to reach him, in the order people use them — mobile, office, email, branch. Every line hangs from one left margin, and the right-hand side is left to the portrait.
